My Bethel Experience Part 6
by new boy ini 'm sorry all of this is not in order.............i'm writing as all this comes back to me.. my first room assignment was room 33 in the 129 building....it was and old building, built around the turn of the century,...the society owned it but it had worldly people in to.......i'm not sure why but maybe there was a law that provented them from being kicked out or something.
it was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment (about 1000 sq.
ft.) there were 7 of us in there, all new boys ( less then one year there).

Why do you sign your dead body over when you go to Bethel?
by new boy inthis is in response to the thread about the supposed suicide of a bethelite in 1995.. in 1970 when i went to bethel we signed a form stating that "if we died while at bethel the wathtower bible and tract society had the rights to our body.
yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty year old you didn't think much about it.. i know of two brothers who killed themselfs while at bethel and two others who tried end their lives.
my guess is people have been killing themselfs at bethel long before i ever got there.

O.K....
No, I don't think the society sells dead exbethelites bodys parts.
My question is WHY is there that form?
I don't think it is as "Scully" says "in case there is no one to colect the body!
They were our employer. How many employers ask you to sign a form giving them your bodies if you die on the job. They didn't care about us when were alive at Bethel, WHY would the care about our bodies after death?
My thoughts are something happen long ago, before I even got there, for the Society legal department to say we need this form....
What happen....who knows.

My Bethel Experince Part V
by new boy inbindery...........5th floor building 3 bindery line 5.............. the machines conquer all.. standing in the same spot, doing the same motion thousands of times a day........you would get the 1000 yard stare (seen in the war movies)..........the first week, you would think about everyone you ever meet........the next week you would think about every movie you ever saw...........the next week, about every place you would like to travel to.............................the next week think about every mistake you made...............the next week, someone would walk up and ask you "what are you thinking about?".
"nothing".......you would say........you were brain dead.. there is eternality!......................some hours felt like it.
a good friend of mine, jim pipkorn (also from the lanudry) who was also shafted to the "end sheet gluer" in the bindery, got so depressed that for months, he would come back to his room make himself some dinner and go to bed, at about 7:00 p.m...................i asked him why he was doing that, he said "it makes the days go by quicker" .

The rule was if you had single sisters in your room...If you were single brother, you had to leave the door open all the way....
Was the door closed?

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

anyway...back on track
Come on guys the society is not killing people at bethel...well not directly.
Some people have died under strange circumstances. The Society does want or ever has wanted bad press.
Thats all....the body thing just helps with all that.

the three freds (circuit overseers).............and about 50 brothers.....thats right only 50. the other guys chickened out, they knew it was going to be a blood bath.
i was there with 7 others from the launrdy............... it started out with dan smoally (not even 30 years old and partaking) telling about what max larson (head of the whole factory) told him "there was no way he was one of the anointed!
